Everybody is aware of two main rice varieties that are consumed by people and that are white and brown rice. There is also a wild rice, that is known to very few people. This rice is considered good for consumption given to its nutty flavour and firm texture. It is not used for preparing main rice dishes, but used as a side dish, in soup as well as for stuffing. This edible grain is a long grain rice with a thick and rigid hull. One cup of wild rice when cooked yield in three cups of rice, as it’s grains triple in size. One must not overcook this rice if wants to enjoy its chewy texture.
